This past weekend, Chris and I went to our apartment in Tuscaloosa to get some things he had forgotten so on the way back to Columbia we made a pit stop in Atlanta and went to lunch and then the Georgia Aquarium! Other than it being so crowded and us hating really large crowds, it was really cool and I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area. It was nice to stop and break up the long drive a little bit. We are now back in South Carolina for a couple more weeks and then it will be time to move back to our little home in Alabama! I hope you all have a nice week, xo!
Oh my! I spent last week back in Tuscaloosa at my apartment to just check up on the place and get some work stuff done. I cannot believe in less than a month, Chris and I will be moving back in for school to begin. Summer is flying by, but we are ready to go back home! Anyways, I had some downtime last week and in my down time I really like to read so I purchased a couple new books and have devoured them all. This go around I actually bought the book on my iPad because it is about ten dollars cheaper there than if I were to buy it in stores. I definitely recommend "All the Bright Places" by Jennifer Niven. I read this too in just two days because I found it so hard to put down! I didn't want the story to end. Without any spoilers, it tells a story of and girl who has just lost her sister and is grieving and a boy who is just a lost soul, complicated mess of an individual and they meet at the top of the bell tower at their high school getting ready to jump off. Possibly one of my favorite books ever because it really makes you think and put things in perspective. You should read it! xo, Hope you all are having a nice week. ^ My sweet friend MacKenzie! A couple of days ago, my friend, Mackenzie and I went down to Charleston to meet up with our friend from high school! We had not seen her in quite a few months so it was awesome to catch up with her! Before meeting her for dinner, Mack and I did some shopping on King Street and strolled around down by the battery where we posed on random people's front stoops like we actually lived there. It was a nice little trip spent with the loveliest people. I hope everyone has a nice week, xo! 1. Get out of bed earlier You will feel more productive and like you have more time in the day to get things done if you just get out of bed earlier! With this being said, in order to feel good waking up earlier, you must also go to bed earlier at night so you get an adequate amount of sleep. Not enough sleep= grouchy and bad day. You will also feel more refreshed and re-energized if you go to bed at an earlier time so that's a plus. Make sure you wake up in a positive mood and aren't dreading the day ahead of you. Read some motivational quotes or positive sayings before getting going for the day! 2. Plan your day While you're waiting for your coffee to finish brewing, plan out your day and write yourself a detailed to-do list. Preferably if you live with a friend or a partner, plan it out together so each of you know what is going on in each other's lives that day. I love having a list of everything that needs to be done and checking them off as I go, makes me feel productive and together in life. 3. Get out of the house If you are like me nothing drives you more crazy or leaves you feeling more drained than being cooped up in the house all day. You need to get some fresh air and get out of the house! Get yourself ready, dress in something you feel comfortable in and find something to do. Run some errands, meet a friend for lunch, buy some shoes, whatever just do something. 4. Move your body I hate the word "exercise" sounds as bad as going to the doctor so I just say move around, get your blood pumping. Walk your dog, take your kids to the park, do some yoga or simple exercises in your living room or if you really want to hit the gym (but if you are like me that is a definite NO, so believe me there are many other ways to stay active!) Being active really just gives me energy for the day and having energy throughout the day really makes for a better, more productive day. 5. Don't forget your nighttime routine Before going to bed the night before, make sure you remove all of your make-up, wash your face and brush your teeth. Nothing feels worse than waking up with icky skin and finding new spots because you forgot to wash it the night before. I like to use my normal skin cleanser and then add some lotion afterwards since I usually have pretty dry skin. 6. Clean your house Last, but not least--before you go to bed at night, make sure your house is clean and everything is put away in it's arranged spot. For some people, cleaning your house is a very dreadful chore, but if you just set a timer for twenty minutes, you will be amazed at how much you can get done in such a short amount of time! Run the dishwasher, run the washing machine, etc. I go a little crazy if they house is a mess. For real, nothing beats waking up to a clean and tidy house. So there are six simple steps to making sure you have a good day! Hope they work as well for you as they do for me. So I have decided that one of my goals for this coming school year is to start reading more (actually more like start reading period because I probably have not read an entire book since high school--I know, pathetic). So I thought why not start now? I bought this book "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart and finished in less than two days. It was a page turner for sure! The ending was one of those endings where you sit there and you're like "wait,,,,,what?" and in my opinion those are the best kinds of endings. I am starting my next read today, a book titled "All The Bright Places" and I'll let you know what I think. xo, Happy Tuesday! |
