Until next time.....xo, love you all!
Hi friends and fam! Since I am keeping this blog as kind of like a journal to look back on, I thought I should give a cheeky little life catch up to let everyone know what's going on. So this week i started my junior year in college at the University of Alabama which is actually insane ( a junior?! really?!! ) and this picture above is a picture of me and my boyfriend on our first day *aw*. This semester I am really beginning my education track and from here on out it is only education classes I will be taking. That I am excited about because personally I hate all the random history and science classes that we are forced to take borrrrrrrring. Aside from school, I am working as a research assistant at the University (at the same job I had last semester) and I plan to continue with my volunteer work as a mentor as well! So there is my little life update, here I am in my apartment in Tuscaloosa with Chris and my puppy, Lina, just living life as a little family. I have a feeling this semester will entail very few hours of sleep, a lot of coffee and me asking repeatedly throughout the day "wait...... what day is this?" because they all seem to blur together these days. Whoever said "the days are long, but the weeks are short" is so right!! Anyways, my family is on their way to visit us right now and I am so happy they will be here to spend the weekend with me. They are coming to celebrate my twentieth birthday ( again..WHAT?! 20?! crazy ) which is next week so I see a cake in my future #yum.
Until next time.....xo, love you all!
I am that person that actually really enjoys going back to school, until I have to take a test and then I am just so done, but until then it's my favorite holiday. Like you have no idea how much joy school supply shopping brings me. It is actually my favorite thing to shop for, and that's probably what made me want to be a teacher because it really goes hand-in-hand with my addiction. So since school starts tomorrow for me, I wanted to share with you, what I like to keep in my school bag. Please note* that I do not have my textbooks yet and I will be hauling around my laptop, but I wanted to share the cute things, not the boring bits and pieces. Most of my supplies came from Target and then some I collected from Staples. My favorite purchases are for sure the cat pencil case (seriously obsessed with things that have cats on them, like I probably have a slight problem- oh well) and my white and gold planner because I am weird and love planners. I also adore my new bag I purchased for this school year, it is a light pink, blue and beige Nine West tote that I snagged on major sale! The other bits and pieces are pretty common school items-- folders, notebooks, pencils and pens. I also like to keep gum and a snack in my bag at all times along with something to tie my hair up because I live in the South and it is bloody hot and humid 90% of the time and last of course, my glasses because without them I would not be able to see. Also I wanted to point on that I carry two planners with me in my school bag, one of which I keep up with 'life' things-- aka work, vacations, vet appointments, etc. and then the pink one which has my school logo on it is strictly for school related things-- aka exams, homework, due dates, all that fun stuff. This just helps me stay more organized and keeps my life in order.
So there you have it friends. I hope everyone has a wonderful school year and finds as much (or at least some) joy in buying their supplies because having cute things definitely makes school better. I promise!
^ Sheep Meadow in Central Park-- favorite view of the city!
^ at the Brooklyn Flea Market. A must-do in NY if you ask me!
^ Washington Square Park. One of my favorite spots in the city!
^ Love statue in Philadelphia <3
Anddddd there you have it, the last of the pictures from my NY road trip. Unfortunately, we did not get lucky with the weather in New York and it rained the days we were there so I really did not take many photos because I did not want to mess up the camera. But we didn't let the rain bring us down, we still carried on and had a lovely time! We started our day in New York by going to the Brooklyn Flea Market which is a must if you go to New York on a weekend because it is such a cool experience and Chris never comes out empty handed. Then we went to visit with my aunt and uncle who live in Queens and had a nice little catch up with them. We of course did Central Park because it is the best place in NYC, but I wasn't able to take any pictures due to rain. Although Chris and I did catch some pretty sweet Pokemon there and had a nice stroll through the park. We ate at a nice Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village and if you come to NY make sure to go down there because it is so so beautiful. After dinner we made our way to Washington Square Park which is another favorite spot of mine in the city. I lose track of days, but I believe the next day we ended our New York journey with the famous Times Square which is my brother's favorite, but too many people for my liking.
On the way home from NY we stopped in Philadelphia and went to Independence Hall and Chris and I stood beside the LOVE statue because #cute and then continued down south where we stopped at University of Virginia. Here, Chris and I took a walk around town while my brother and parents toured the University because my brother thinks he wants to go there for college, eeeeeep.
So anyways I hope you enjoyed these pictures. I have the travel bug again already and the next trip will be to Dallas at the end of the month yipppee! Bye for now xxxooo
Hello everybody! I am a little late posting these pictures, but here they are. After we got back from our trip I had to kick it in moving gear because Chris and I just moved back to our apartment for school is approaching quickly. So as I am writing this we are actually back in Alabama, but I had to post these pictures because it was such a good day. We spent about eight hours in Washington D.C. total and as you can see, we packed a lot in! Washington has so many museums (a lot of them are free- yay!), shopping, good restaurants and is a very lively place overall. My brother went on a college tour so Chris and I went exploring and we went to The National Gallery of Art which was beautiful. Art museums are my favorite. Then we headed to Kennedy Space Museum and walked to both the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Monument. We also stopped for some shopping in Union Station (seriously Washington's metro is the nicest public transportation ever) and ate at a really yummy Indian restaurant called "Merzi." It was such a nice day!
Because traveling is one of my favorite things to do and I have a pretty good amount of experience with it, I decided to put together my travel bag essentials. I have used this black Vera Bradley bag as my travel bag and school bag (occasionally) for the last couple of years. It is so sturdy and can hold so much stuff which is such a big plus because I have a lot of stuff! I have been on boats, planes, trains and many car rides (for those who do not know my family, we are the ultimate road-trip family...we have driven to every U.S. state except for Hawaii as we had to fly to that one, of course!) and on each of those trips I carry with me these same items!
First you must find a good size bag, not too small, but also not too big! Like I said I have this black Vera Bradley bag that I have been using and is not sold in stores anymore, but I will link a similar one here. I really love this bag too because it has a laptop sleeve, making is safe and easy to travel with your laptop. On planes, you are normally allotted one handheld bag (purse, laptop bag, backpack, etc.) and then one actual carry-on bag to hold clothes and what not. I use this black bag as my "purse" even though I store my real purse inside of it so that I can carry on as much as possible, avoiding checked bag fees. Yuck!
Next are my electronics. I can not go anywhere without my iPhone. I always make sure to pack my phone along with its charger because you never know when you will need an extra charge and need to get to a charger ASAP. I also bring my laptop, I have the Dell windows XPS Ultrabook. It is such a great computer and it turns into a tablet as well making it really easy to use in tight spaces (plane seats, car seats, train seats, etc.) I also bring along my iPad for reading purposes only. I like to buy books on an iPad because for 1. they are much cheaper than buying them in stores and for 2. an iPad is much easier to pack than a whole set of books. And last, my camera is a must-have! I have the Canon EOS ti5 and I love it! Along with each of my electronic devices, I bring their chargers and protective cases.
Inside of my bigger travel bag, I like to bring an actual normal size purse that I use everyday during my trip. Right now I am using this Nine West bag in blush pink because that is my favorite color right now and this bag is just so cute. Inside of my purse is where I keep travel essentials like money, debit/credit cards, passport if needed, plane/train boarding passes, my keys, you know important things like those.
You cannot carry a travel bag without snacks and a water bottle! If you are like me, you get hungry at the most random times and I hate paying tons of money for airport food or fast food so I just like to bring my own snacks. My cravings change all the time, but you can never go wrong with a protein bar and a water bottle. Along with food items, I always have gum.
Other extra things I have in my travel bag at all times are a pair of sunglasses, my real glasses (if I am not already wearing them, which I usually am) some headphones for listening to music and watching videos and some lip balm. I also like to pack a few first-aid type things just in case...you never know!
So there you have it, these are my traveling essentials and I always have each of them no matter where I am traveling to and what type of transportation I am taking to get there! I am headed to New York in a few days so I will be packing my travel bag very soon, yay!! xo
